crEATe @ 48
crEATe @ 48 is our first recommendation when food is the focus of your evening. Just two doors down from York & Stratton, Chef Jason’s restaurant serves fresh, seasonal cooking with an emphasis on local ingredients. It is an especially convenient choice for a dinner you want to plan your evening around.
Browse the current menu before your visit and reserve ahead. With the restaurant so close to your room, you can take your time over dinner and enjoy the short walk back.
Garryowen Irish Pub
Garryowen Irish Pub is one of our favorite choices for a casual meal downtown. Traditional Irish dishes share the menu with pub favorites, and the bar offers Irish beers and an extensive whiskey selection.
Come for good pub food and a relaxed evening after sightseeing. The Chambersburg Street location is within walking distance of York & Stratton, making it easy to leave the car behind.
Dobbin House Tavern
Dobbin House Tavern is worth visiting for its colonial setting. Built in 1776, Gettysburg’s oldest surviving home houses two dining options, each with a different atmosphere.
The Alexander Dobbin Dining Rooms serve traditional American and Continental dishes in six historic rooms, including the library, parlor, and former bedroom. Candlelight, exposed beams, and period dress make the building’s history part of the evening. Reserve ahead for the dining rooms, especially on busy weekends.
Downstairs, the Springhouse Tavern offers a more casual meal in a stone cellar with natural springs and fireplaces. The menu includes sandwiches, salads, and heartier dishes. The tavern does not accept reservations, so arrive early and allow for a wait.
The Gettysburger Company
The Gettysburger Company is where we suggest going for a burger. Its substantial half-pound burgers come with a range of toppings, making the namesake dish the reason to visit.
The Chambersburg Street restaurant has a casual pub setting close to Lincoln Square. It works well for a burger and beer after touring the battlefield or a relaxed lunch downtown.
Blue & Gray Bar & Grill
Blue & Gray Bar & Grill is a popular option within our block, right on Lincoln Square. This family-owned sports bar serves specialty burgers, wings, and other pub food, with televisions showing games throughout the restaurant.
Choose it for a casual meal close to the hotel or when you want to watch a game over dinner. Its central location makes it an easy meeting place after a day spent exploring different parts of town.
One Lincoln Food & Spirits
One Lincoln Food & Spirits is another convenient option within our block. Located in Hotel Gettysburg overlooking Lincoln Square, it offers a contemporary American menu with burgers, shareable plates, and larger dinner dishes.
Keep it in mind for dinner near the hotel or a drink before a performance at the Majestic Theater. The location is particularly useful when you want to stay downtown for the evening.
Bud’s at Silver Run
Bud’s at Silver Run is one of our recommendations for guests willing to drive for dinner. Located in Silver Run, Maryland, south of Gettysburg, it offers a dining room and a separate pub.
We have enjoyed the food here and recommend considering it when you have an evening free to venture beyond town. It requires a drive from York & Stratton, so check the current menu, confirm opening hours, and make a reservation before setting out.

The Sign of the Buck
The Sign of the Buck serves New American cooking in the restored Union Hotel just off Lincoln Square. Its menu draws on French brasserie traditions, with seasonal produce, meat, seafood, and cocktails.

The Historic Cashtown Inn
The Historic Cashtown Inn is eight miles west of Gettysburg. Built as a stagecoach stop in 1797, it later served as a Confederate headquarters during the Gettysburg Campaign, with a field hospital in its basement.
Dinner here combines a countryside outing with a historic setting. Menus and service vary by day, so consult the current schedule and reserve before making the drive.
The Hoof, Fin & Fowl
The Hoof, Fin & Fowl offers a broad menu centered on seafood, with steaks, lamb, duck, and occasional game meats among the alternatives. It is an option for a group interested in seafood but looking for other choices as well.

Appalachian Brewing Company
The Appalachian Brewing Company Battlefield Brew Pub offers burgers, wings, sandwiches, and substantial pub dishes, along with house-brewed beer and craft soda. Dining rooms and a patio give families and groups room to gather after sightseeing.
Its Steinwehr Avenue location is convenient for the battlefield and nearby museums. Keep it in mind when your group wants a broad menu and a casual setting.
Gettysburg Eddie’s
Gettysburg Eddie’s takes its name from Eddie Plank, the Gettysburg-born Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher. Its sports-bar setting and menu of burgers, sandwiches, salads, pasta, and American comfort food make it an option for families.
Located on Steinwehr Avenue, it is close to the National Cemetery, the Heritage Center, and attractions at the southern end of downtown.
La Bella Italia
La Bella Italia serves pizza, stromboli, subs, pasta, and familiar baked dishes. It is a practical choice for a family meal or takeout when you would rather spend the evening back at the hotel.
The York Street location is east of Lincoln Square. Use the restaurant’s current online menu when planning an order.
Lincoln Diner

Mason Dixon Distillery and Restaurant
Mason Dixon Distillery produces spirits from locally sourced grain in a restored furniture factory on East Water Street. Its restaurant serves shareable plates, sandwiches, and larger dishes, with cocktails featuring the distillery’s own spirits.
Consider it for dinner and drinks or check its current brunch offerings. The restaurant and production site are separate from the smaller bottle shop on Lincoln Square, so use the East Water Street address.
Olivia’s
Olivia’s serves Mediterranean and American food about five miles south of Lincoln Square. Greek specialties, seafood, lamb, pasta, and familiar American dishes give families several options.
It requires a drive from the hotel and can fit into a day exploring sites south of Gettysburg, including the Eisenhower farm and the Round Tops.
O’Rorke’s Family Eatery & Spirits
O’Rorke’s is an Irish-American pub on Steinwehr Avenue named for Colonel Patrick O’Rorke, who was killed at Little Round Top. Its menu includes Irish dishes alongside burgers, crab cakes, steaks, and sandwiches.
The two-level dining room provides space beyond the bar. Its location is convenient after a visit to the National Cemetery or the southern end of the battlefield.

Where to Get Pizza in Gettysburg
Antica Napoli Pizza
Antica Napoli Pizza is a small, family-run shop on North Washington Street. The menu includes traditional round pies, Grandma and Sicilian pizza, calzones, stromboli, pasta, and subs on house-baked rolls.
Choose it for takeout or a casual meal near the square. Seating is modest, so plan accordingly for a larger group.
The Upper Crust
The Upper Crust serves individual twelve-inch wood-fired pizzas at 19 York Street, close to the hotel. Familiar toppings share the menu with combinations such as wild mushroom and egg, soppressata and hot honey, or brisket and pickled onion. Pita, shawarma, and Middle Eastern starters offer alternatives to pizza.
It is a convenient choice for a small group with different tastes. Pizzas are made to order, so allow extra time when the restaurant is busy.
Tommy’s Pizza
Tommy’s Pizza has served Greek-style pizza since 1973. Its menu also includes subs, gyros, stromboli, salads, and wings, with a broad craft beer selection.
It works well for families, takeout, or a casual meal near the battlefield. A drive-through pickup window makes collecting an order convenient after a day of touring.
Ice Cream, Chocolate, and Candy
Several dessert shops are close enough to include in an evening walk from York & Stratton. Others are farther along Baltimore Street and Steinwehr Avenue, where you can stop after visiting nearby museums or the National Cemetery.

Gettysburg Chocolate Market is a few doors from Lincoln Square on Baltimore Street. Hand-dipped chocolates, ice cream, baked sweets, espresso drinks, and hot chocolate make it a useful stop when everyone wants something different.
Pick up dessert for the walk back or a box of chocolates to take home.
Sweeet! The Candy Store
Sweeet! is a family-owned candy store near the square on Baltimore Street. Its shelves hold nostalgic favorites, imported sweets, freeze-dried candy, and an assortment of bottled sodas.
It is worth a browse for an old favorite or something you have never tried, with plenty to interest children and adults.
Mr. G’s Ice Cream
Mr. G’s Ice Cream serves homemade hard ice cream, soft serve, shakes, and sundaes from the 1819 Twin Sycamores house on Baltimore Street. Outdoor seating beneath an old sycamore provides a place to pause with your cone.
Stop after a museum visit or an evening tour, and check seasonal hours before planning a late visit.
Cone Sweet Cone
Cone Sweet Cone offers ice cream made on site, gelato, custard, and Italian ice, with vegan options. Indoor and outdoor seating, a front porch, and a walk-up window give families several ways to enjoy a stop.
Its location near the southern end of Baltimore Street is convenient for attractions in that part of town. Check the current selection if your group has dietary requirements.
Kilwins Chocolate, Fudge, and Ice Cream
Kilwins on Steinwehr Avenue offers fudge, ice cream, caramel apples, brittle, caramel corn, and boxed chocolates. Several confections are prepared in the shop, including fudge cooked in copper kettles and worked on marble tables.
Visit for dessert or a gift to take home while walking toward the National Cemetery.
